Monarch butterflies fall into the Danaus genus of the animalia kingdom. This painting was inspired by the close up of their wings with special attention given to the wing cells. Each cell is made up of layers of intricate fine-line work that mimics the visuals of thermal mapping. Thus, "Thermal Danaus" was born.
